Where to Find CNE Food Year-round

Toronto’s “first junk food bar” offers bold mash-ups of your favourite foods growing up as a kid.

Take their ‘Pulled Junk Waffle’, a pulled pork sandwich, but instead of anything conventional, it’s everything your inner child wishes it would be: pulled pork slow cooked in Dr. Pepper, topped with junk slaw, cheddar cheese, pickles and Jolly Rancher BBQ sauce- all wrapped in a waffle!

Not just a once a year experience

The experience at Little Portugal’s Junked Food Co is one that is usually reserved for the CNE food building.

Their signature dish (sorry, bag) is a bag of Doritos spiked with their Junked taco sauce, shredded cheddar, jalapeno, olives, tomato, lettuce, onion and sour cream. Put this one over the top by adding chocolate chicken chili!

Craving dessert?

A cake jar ‘D-Cup’ layers icing on cake on cake-icing, made ready to order. They come in a variety of flavours, this one has maple ice cream, toasted marshmallow fluff, maple cream cookie, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips and pecans:

If you need help choosing a guilty pleasure, co-owner Brian McKilligan recommends their  ‘416 Deep Dish Pizza’, a deep dish pizza that can include toppings such as bacon, goat cheese, jalapenos, chicken, mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, and extra cheese.

Brian believes you must also try his ‘Junked Tots’ which they “hand roll daily and fill with gooey cheddar cheese”.

Thinking about trying everything on their menu?

Think again. It’s always evolving as they constantly “mash up things really fun and tasty”. None of it would be possible without “community input and demand”- that’s right, they bring your guilty pleasure dreams to life as new menu items!

Is this all too good/bad to be true?

The place dedicated to making all your (drunken) dreams come true is at 1256 Dundas Street W. where they are open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. Let us know what you think below.
